About

Ardagh Cottage is a traditional vernacular cottage built in the 1800s. It is the last remaining of a group or 'clachan' of cottages which once stood in the townland of Ardagh.

The decor is vintage with lots of interesting artefacts but with the convenience of modern appliances including an Airfryer, microwave and dishwasher. The cottage also has good strength WiFi inside and out in garden.

The cosy living room has a wood burning stove with firelighters, kindling and a basket of logs provided.  The TV has an Amazon Firestick and there is also an Alexa and a stereo system with a selection of CDs. For those of a cerebral nature there is a chess board table and a selection of books and games.

The living room leads onto the corridor of the cottage where you will find the 2 bedrooms and the bathroom.
All beds have very comfortable mattresses and electric blankets.
Towels are provided.

Attached to the cottage are 2 stores. The one closest to the cottage is private and will be locked but you have access to the larger one at the end, in which you will find the freezer, the washing machine and an extra fridge.

There is a large garden at your disposal but the garden room is private and will be locked.

Ardagh is a place of tranquility and relaxation where often the only sounds are from the surrounding farm animals and wildlife. Nearby Breen Wood is a Red Squirrel sanctuary with a resident population of deer.

From May to September, midges are frequent visitors - mainly at dawn, dusk and in damp weather - so come prepared!
You will definitely need a car as you will be at least 4 miles from the nearest public transport or shops.

Ardagh is a pet friendly cottage as we have a dog ourselves.  We will happily welcome 1 larger dog or up to 2 small dogs.
We respectfully ask that dogs are not allowed on any furniture.
Please also be mindful, when considering a stay at Ardagh, that we are surrounded by fields. Depending on the time of year, these are occupied by cows, sheep and lambs.
Dogs MUST remain on a lead at all times when outdooors.
