It's not just our beautiful coastline and countryside that's rich in history, heritage and culture. Venture into our towns and you'll find a range of great independent shops, plenty of great places to eat, drink, stay and often a few surprises too!
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council believe that high-quality, creative street art can add vibrancy to town centres and support local economic growth. With this in mind, and with financial support from the Department for Communities, the Council's 'Prosperity and Place' team commissioned street art in six of our towns, including Portstewart, Portrush, Coleraine, Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Limavady.
In the summer of 2021, we invited artists from across Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK, to come to the Causeway Coast and Glens to create individual and creative art, to dive deep and be inspired by the rich and varied histories and cultures of the towns, exploring local myths and legends and celebrating local heroes (plus a few cows)!
The artists involved included emerging local talent and some of the most talented and well-established street artists working across Ireland. The common theme connecting all the artworks is 'local heritage'. In addition to the economic benefits to town centres, the street art is helping to preserve knowledge, raise awareness and educate.
Explore the towns and follow our Street Art Trail on a tour across 6 towns and 23 ground-breaking art pieces, each telling their own story and that of the town.
