About
The original castle dates back to the 14th century and was rebuilt by the Earl of MaCartney in the 18th Century in a romantic gothic style, however it was partially destroyed by an accidental explosion in 1847.
The adjoining stables and coach house have been lavishly converted and restored into two main reception rooms divided by an entrance hall with the fully furnished Macartney Room on one side with an open fire and fully licensed bar, and the dining room on the other side which also has an open fire.
Across the courtyard in an adjacent building lies a much larger reception room known as the Castle Barn which can comfortably seat up to 400 guests. Here there is a huge dance floor but despite it's size it still remains homely and welcoming with its open fire and sofas and old, dainty furniture and ornaments There is ample parking with easy access for both cars and coaches. The stunning location and extensively landscaped ruins and grounds, provides an exceptional backdrop for photographs with views over the land and woodlands.
Lissanoure is fundamently different from any hotel, with its charm, opulence, authenticity and exterior wonderland. At Lissanoure we turn dreams into reality.
