About

You'll be amazed just how the small the earth is when we explore some of the characters, places and events we have a connection with, at our iconic Heritage site.

Everyone knows the Causeway was built by Finn McCool, but there is a story that it was formed 65 million years ago and actually can be compared to current volcanic activity in Iceland.

It's bad luck to take away a Causeway stone, an American President was once presented with one, that didn't end well.

Mary Murphy the Portrush Giant married a French fisherman, would things have been better if she had stayed with her first love, the Hermit of Port Coon cave?

Imagine being part of the Spanish Armada, sailing all the way from Spain, and ending up shipwrecked on the Causeway Coast. That's what happened the Girona.

In Port-Na-Boe, the Bay of the Cow, we can still see where the Viking set up camp in 700 A.D. Hear how they got here, and how the locals dealt with their visits. Magnus Barefoot was certainly taught a lesson.

Tavish Dhu the Pirate sailed from Scotland and lived on The Skerries, now he was a naughty boy!

See Binevenagh Mountain in the distance, famous for things as diverse as Game of Thrones, gliding and Cushy Glen the Highwayman.

These, plus many other stories will be celebrated in our bookable "Causeway Connections" tour for European Heritage Open Day on Saturday 14th September at 11.00am. Limited to 35 places. Please book early to secure your place.
