About

The Earl Bishop Trail extends from the Giant’s Causeway to Derry/Londonderry linking up the places associated with the Frederick Augustus Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol, and Bishop of Derry (1730-1803). One of the most charismatic individuals to have lived in the North West of Ireland, Hervey was a man of many parts: cleric and scientist, classicist and linguist, he took a keen interest in Irish politics and was a powerful proponent of religious equality.
