Background:
Welcome to the studio of talented local artist Fiona Shannon for a fun and relaxing hands on craft experience. A native of the coastal town of Portstewart and a graduate of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland , Fiona moved away to specialise in ceramics and pottery before returning home in 2016 to her beloved home town to set up her own studio.
Surrounded by the natural and raw beauty of the Causeway Coast, Fiona takes her inspiration from the wild Atlantic coastline using the colours of nature’s palette. Fiona shares her deep connection to her home and the stunning coastal landscape while demonstrating the art of pottery making on the wheel.
Don your apron and try your hand at throwing the wheel in a relaxed and fun environment. Guided by Fiona, mix your paints, embrace your inner creativity and paint your very own Causeway Coast inspired mug. Relax and feel all your stresses melt away as you focus on your masterpiece. Finish with some locally made refreshments, a wonderful sense of achievement and your very own memento of the Causeway Coast.

She has also collaborated with numerous businesses such as artisan coffee shops and craftspeople to create unique handmade ceramics for their use, including Ursa Minor Bakehouse, Brew and Bake Belfast, Habit Food and Coffee Lounge, Two Goat's Soap and Barn Door Coffee Shop.
"The simple, elegant, and authentic tableware design and richness of colours enhance any communal dining table. Fiona says that my pots are reminiscent of quality home-cooked Irish food and robust coastal inspired designs that reflect my local wild Atlantic coastline," Fiona says.
"My range includes mugs, plates, bread platters, salad bowls, serving dishes and jam/chutney pots that are functional yet aesthetically pleasing."
