About
Cathal McNaughton is a multi-award-winning photojournalist currently based in Ireland. After winning the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for his coverage of the Rohingya refugee crisis in Myanmar and Bangladesh, Cathal relocated back to Ireland where he is continuing his work documenting people and places.
Join Cathal on a unique photography adventure in the stunning Glens of Antrim and Causeway Coast; an area Cathal grew up in and has an intimate knowledge of. A place of his childhood where myth and reality collide in the stories and legends of the area.
Over the course of the workshop, you will explore the area, where Cathal will introduce you to local people who are interwoven with the landscape and environment.
Use natural surroundings to take stunning environmental portraits of local characters and create studio set-ups with everyday objects.
The day begins at Cathal's 200-year-old traditional Irish cottage, where you will enjoy a hot drink by the open fire and discuss the plan for the day. From here, you will travel together to the first of the 3 locations. This is where you will concentrate on environmental portraiture.
Weather, light and season will dictate which of the many stunning landscape locations you will capture. From the world-famous Giants Causeway to multiple hidden locations which Cathal has discovered over the years, you will capture under his guidance the heart and soul of the Causeway Coast. Each tour will be as unique as the Irish weather.
