About

Watch, laugh or get involved if you dare as this year's Summer Street Theatre returns animating the seaside resorts of Ballycastle, Portrush and Portstewart.

Enjoy a silly slapstick moment, laugh at the traditional Punch & Judy show or gaze in awe at the talents of the fire manipulators as they breathe and juggle fire.

Let yourself be mesmerised by the talented unicyclists and stilt walkers or share a giggle with the family as lively and energetic circus performers bring some fun to the seaside.

SUMMER STREET THEATRE PROGRAMME 2024

PORTRUSH AND PORTSTEWART

Summer Street Theatre shows at the Amphitheatre, Portrush and The Crescent, Portstewart

Portrush 1.30pm and Portstewart 4pm  *except for Saturday 10 August - Portrush only

Friday 19 July - TBC

Friday 26 July - Dr Nick

Dr Nick’s solo street show is a brilliant mix of high energy unicycling, tantalisingly dangerous fire-juggling, awe-inspiring plate spinning, and masses of audience participation – all stuck together with Dr Nick’s own brand of comedy glue. This family friendly show is stuffed full of laughter, cheek and no small amount of skill... Dr Nick is, after all, a future unicycle Olympian!

Friday 2 August - The Mac Factor

The Mac Factor, aka Paul Mac, is a fantastic virtuoso of street performing. He will wow all with his ferocious energy and endearing, charismatic wit. He will amaze with his ball and hat juggling, not to mention his stunning diablo skills and other feats of wonder. In a death-defying finale, Paul juggles while balancing precariously on top of a 10ft ladder. A complete must see for all the family!

Friday 9 August - Bob Bobbins

Bob the juggler is looking to bring more colour to people’s lives by making the audience the stars of the show! With the willing assistance of the audience, Bob will attempt to juggle fire on top of an 8ft unicycle, balance ridiculous things on his chin and play the human xylophone!

Saturday 10 August - Jim

Jim performs his solo show combining all the elements of the circus! Fire Juggling, 8ft unicycles and ladder balancing, this show is suitable for the whole family, clowning around with lots of audience participation required!

Friday 16 August - Babcock & Bobbins

This show is fairly traditional and incorporates  a good mix of slapstick comedy and circus skills, including Fire Juggling, Giraffe Unicycle, Stilt Walking, Rola Bola and Fire Breathing. There are plenty of opportunities for audience participation, and it is an experience that the whole family can enjoy.

Friday 23 August - Punch & Judy

This show enthrals and excites both adults and children alike. Parky performs a traditional Punch and Judy show with the authentic voice of Mr Punch. The Theatre puppets are traditional in style with slapstick and humour being the main ingredients of this incomparable show. Parky is indeed a specialist in the field of puppetry with Punch and Judy being his forte.

BALLYCASTLE

Summer Street Theatre shows at Ballycastle Seafront 1pm to 4pm. Show on the hour every hour.

Friday 23 July - TBC

Friday 16 August - Jim & Dr Nick

Two of Ireland’s top street entertainers bring their unique talents together in this street circus show with a comic display of juggling, unicycling, fire juggling and ladder balancing. A problematic PA system and a fear of heights combined with an inability to concentrate and a total lack of forward planning, make Jim & Nick the perfect double act to juggle fire on 8ft unicycles. Full of laughs and stuffed with skills, this act will be enjoyed by young and old alike. Everyone will be laughing… just not necessarily at the same things.
