Armoy Road Races - Race of Legends

Armoy, Ballymoney, 28 Jul - 29 Jul

The world-famous Armoy Road Race takes place once again, during the last weekend in July, in and around the picturesque County Antrim village of Armoy, situated at the foot of Glenshesk in the heart of the breathtaking Glens of Antrim, close to Ballycastle, Ballymoney and the world famous Giant's Causeway.

The three mile circuit harks back to the 1970's and the days of the legendary Armoy Armada including the famous Joey Dunlop, but has been brought bang up to date by the organisers.

The Road Race is getting bigger and better every year with competitors from all over the world. Spectators also come from far and wide and extend their stay to enjoy the beautiful Causeway Coast and Glens area. A thrilling experience for all to enjoy.

Armoy’s race week commences on Sunday 23rd July with the ‘Armoy Ride Out’ and BBQ and with events taking place throughout the week and two fantastic days of practice/racing on 28th and 29th July (including children’s entertainment in the paddock on race day) there is something for everyone at Armoy in 2017.

Fri 28 July – Practice Day plus a Senior Support Race and a 600cc Supersport Race (1)

Please go to our website at www.amrrc.com for further information.

The circuit is 3.03 miles in distance, triangular in shape and ridden in an anticlockwise direction. Walkways provide easy access to some spectacular places such as Church Bends and Dunlop’s Leap to watch and take photographs of all the action.

Armoy is only 15 miles from the iconic Giant’s Causeway and other famous tourist attractions such as Dunluce Castle, Carrick-a-Reade Rope Bridge and Ballintoy Harbour. Many of these attractions have featured in the Game of thrones including the Dark Hedges (Kings Road in the series) and their close proximity to Armoy provides a perfect opportunity for race fans and visitors to Armoy to discover more about the area and the filming of this epic series.
